Law Explorer Post
Paired with the Sioux Empire Teen Court and Sioux Council Learning for Life, the Juvenile Diversion Law Explorer Post provides youth an inside look at law. Youth can learn what it takes to succeed in law from professionals, take part in Teen Court hearings, learn about law in a hands-on way, and become a positive role model for their peers. Youth will learn about the legal process, learn to organize, prepare, and argue cases, and increase skills and confidence in public speaking.
The Law Explorer post is great for youth who are interested debate, speech, government, or law, or who may be looking forward to a career that coincides with the law, such as lawyers, probation or correctional officers, or even law enforcement. This post provides youth opportunities to attend real life attorney training, as well as other trainings to help prepare them to serve as a jury member, defense attorney, prosecutor, or even a foreperson in a real Teen Court hearing.
Calendar dates for Law Explorers includes same days as above to sign up for jury training with additional training dates as follows:
June 24th from 6-7pm
July 22nd from 6-7pm
Future dates may be scheduled at Sioux Council, BSA at 800 N West Avenue.
