Juvenile Diversion

The Sioux Council’s Teen Court program is designed to provide youth with a positive alternative to the court system. Youth participate in structured programs and group interactions which are intended to improve self-esteem, self-understanding, decision-making, communication, respect, responsibility, caring, and honesty.

We work closely with the Minnehaha County State's Attorney’s Office and are court approved.

Cases are referred to the JDP by the Minnehaha States Attorney Office.

Upon successful completion of the program juveniles are granted a second chance to live a normal life with a record free from the criminal charge for which their referral stems from.

Teen Court also provides juveniles interested in future law-based careers or just looking to expand their knowledge the unique chance to volunteer.
